Woodland retreat just minutes from cable car, lake and village
It’s hard to believe that Chalet Agapes is a modern build - nestling in the woods close to the beautiful Lake Montriond, it looks like it has been there for ever!
It’s also deceptively spacious - built in to a slope, there’s an extra floor you can only see from the back.
Its location is perfect for those arriving by car - just a few minutes drive from the Ardent cable car, which will whisk you into the Avoriaz ski area. It’s just a short walk from lakeside restaurants and a few minutes drive from the traditional town of Morzine.
This 3 star chalet has a garden, sunny terrace and balcony on the back of the property, to catch the sun, and there’s no better place to relax, with the mountains towering above you.
Relax, unwind and soak up the mountain air at cosy Chalet Agapes
The cosy but deceptively spacious Chalet Agapes sleeps up to 8 people in four bedrooms. All have private showers or baths. Two of them have access to the sunny balcony, while the largest, on the top floor, is perfect for a family, with a double bed, a sofa bed for larger groups, and an en suite bathroom.
On the lower ground floor, the open plan living area opens on to the terrace and garden - throw open the doors in the summer and let all that crisp mountain air flood in!
The modern kitchen is well equipped, and with seats at the breakfast bar, it’s a sociable place to cook up a feast. The large dining table will seat everyone, although if it’s warm enough, take your dinner outside to the picnic benches on the terrace. In colder weather, light up the woodburner and toast your toes as you reflect on a great day in the mountains.
Great skiing in every direction - you’ll be spoilt for choice
Chalet Agapes is in an idyllic location in the Le Lavanchy area of Montriond, between the resorts of Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets.
Although a car is essential to get here, the whole of the Portes du Soleil are on your doorstep, and with 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.Try L’Abricotine - one of the longest runs in the Portes du Soleil, which descends 8km along the Swiss-French border to the Ardent cable car, via the snow-bound village of Les Lindarets (a great place to stop for lunch).
This cosy chalet is the perfect base from which to discover the area - you can ski into Switzerland for lunch and be back for dinner. It’s also worth the short drive to Mont Chery, a standalone mountain with great off-piste, where you’ll get fabulous views of Mont Blanc and, if you’re early, plenty of fresh powder.
If you’re not a skier, there are indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks in Morzine, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area’s frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.
Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.
Summer brings its own special magic to the Alps
Summer in the Portes du Soleil is very special, with snowy slopes replaced by lush green pastures, which are a natural playground for walkers, mountain bikers and thrill-seekers.
From Agapes, it’s just a 10-minute walk to the beautiful Lac du Montriond, where you can swim, canoe, follow the biking and hiking trails or enjoy a pony ride. It’s a great place for a picnic, but there are also some excellent restaurants.
The impressive Brochaux waterfalls are worth a visit, as is Les Lindarets, where goats wander free in the summer. Neighbouring Morzine has earned Famille Plus status for its excellent childcare and entertainment - the perfect choice for young families.
There are superb water parks in Morzine and Avoriaz, plus two summer sledging runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages. Golfers will find excellent courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz.
Other activities include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking and hiking. You can also take advantage of the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, offering unrestricted access to the full range of family activities.
Stay close to home or go exploring, there’s so much to see
The traditional village of Montriond, along with neighbouring Morzine and Avoriaz, offers plenty of variety for a holiday, whatever the time of year, but if you venture a little further, there’s lots more to discover.
The Portes du Soleil resorts cross the border into Switzerland, giving you two countries and two cultures to explore. It’s just over half an hour’s drive to Lake Geneva, where you can visit lakeside resorts the pretty spa town of Evian-les-Bains, or the beautiful medieval village of Yvoire. You can also cruise to other lakeside towns such as Lausanne and Montreal.
In Chamonix, just an hour’s drive away, you can take a ride on the second-largest cable car in the world, and take in the spectacular views from Mont Blanc. Geneva airport is just an hour away from Agapes, so if you don’t see everything this time, you’ll just have to stay a little longer.

From the Owner
The chalet has kept its authentic character and is a great place to stay no matter what the season.
“Welcome to Chalet Agapes! The story of our chalet started with a true friendship in the area that led us to discover and fall in love with the region. We found our own chalet, which we love, and since moving to live in Asia with our family, it has become an even more special place for us to visit, a base in France we can come back to and relax. We wanted a welcoming and friendly chalet with a living room that would be a great living space, and cosy bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms, allowing everyone to have their own space. As for the location, we chose the proximity to the Portes du Soleil skiing domain, as well as the convenience of Morzine and Avoriaz resorts, yet the area around the chalet is very quiet and calm. The chalet is in Montriond, right next door to Morzine, a 5-minute drive from the pistes and a few minutes walk from the lovely Montriond Lake. It has kept its authentic character and is a great place to stay no matter what the season. It’s a fantastic place to enjoy a holiday with your family or your friends, or even to organise a company get-together. We hope you’ll cherish and enjoy the time you spend here as much as we do. Welcome to Chalet Agapes and have an excellent stay in the area ! Elise, Philippe & family.
We had a fantastic time at Chalet Agapes. It is a beautiful chalet in a quiet location and has everything you need for a two week holiday. The chalet is located just outside Montriond and a car is necessary to access Morzine. Lac Montriond is a fifteen minute walk away and is a beautiful place to relax. I would highly reccommend Chalet Agapes for a peaceful holiday in a beautiful part of the world.
Beautiful chalet, beautiful location, had everything we needed.

“The chalet is just as described”
We were very satisfied with the welcome, the kindness and the helpfulness of the team from My Home in the Alps.

“Very nice stay”
The location was fantastic and the chalet was very well equipped. The living area is fabulous. Lake Montriond was wonderful while we love Morzine.

We had a great family holiday in your beautiful chalet, which was well equipped and close to the pistes. The welcome was great and we loved the little extras (a bottle of white wine, disposable tooth brush and shower gel). The chalet was very clean, and the key safe was very practical. We were very happy, will recommend this chalet and hope to come back next season, or maybe in the spring.
Patrice A. - 09/04/2016
“We would definitely recommend this place”
A lovely chalet in a lovely spot if you prefer not to be in the main resorts (which we prefer!). Very easy to get to the bubble lift at Ardent and park every morning (we left the chalet at 8.40 am every morning and had no problem). The chalet itself is spacious and light and well furnished and equipped.

Chalet Agapes is a wonderful chalet, run by wonderful people. We couldn't have asked for more during our stay, and we of course hope to be back soon in the near future.
The chalet is well equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, and the open plan living space downstairs is a sure winner! It's the perfect social area for the whole family and has more than enough room to accommodate everyone at the same time. It's a real home from home Chalet and immediately makes you feel welcome.
The location is superb, as you're only a few minutes drive from Morzine town centre where there is a local supermarket and plenty of shops/restaurants, and in the opposite direction you have Ardent - which gives you direct access up to a wide range of ski slopes. All in all, extremely satisfied with our week at Chalet Agapes - 10/10.

A beautiful house in a beautiful location.

Fast access to the Ardent lift, and we had an enjoyable stay. Really good resolution by Nicolas to fix a few small problems. Thanks!

“We will come back for sure”
Lovely chalet in a quiet area, near Avoriaz domain and all Portes du soleil. We got a really warm welcome.

“A warm and welcoming place”
Lovely stay near Lake Montriond. Morzine is a great resort.
Raphaël U. - 30/10/2011
Ideally located for family hiking and mountain biking. Secluded (in a good way!) and very well equipped. Lovely terrace with barbecue.
Nathalie C. - 03/10/2011
At the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Europe's largest skiing area, Morzine offers great winter sports and plenty of summer action. Ski, hike or bike into Switzerland, enjoy great lakeside walks, explore mountain villages or just relax in one of the village's many restaurants or bars. With a superb swimming pool complex, adventure park and a choice of spas, there's always something new to explore.
